Have you heard about BlackBerry before?
Yupz, BlackBerry is one of the popular pushmail services. By using BlackBerry, you can send & received email using your handset as fast as SMS.
BlackBerry is provided by RIM (Research In Motion), the vendor from Canada.
For using BlackBerry, you can use your existing Handheld (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Dopod) that has capability to support BlackBerry Connect or you can use the native BlackBerry Handheld.
Actually, there are many banefit if you use BlackBerry Handheld than you use BlackBerry Connect. Usually, operators that support BlackBerry Service, they will bundle this service with data package. But, is you using BlackBerry Connect, the data from operators, can use for send/received email only. while if you using BlackBerry Handheld, you can use the data not only for send/received email, but also for browsing, Yahoo Messenger, Gtalk, and others internet applications.
Let me explain about More detail about BlackBerry.
I take Telkomsel as example to make you easy to understand about this service.
Telkomsel provide BlackBerry Service for their corporate customer & regular customer. For Corporate customer, they provide BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES) & Blackberry Internet Service (BIS). But for Regular Customer Telkomsel provide only BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS).
BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES) is targeted to company that has their own email server without POP3/IMAP4 protocol supported. So, for company that need BlackBerry services to support their email address, they must invest BlackBerry server in their company. BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) is targeted to personal subscribers that need their POP3/IMAP4 email address to be supported by BlackBerry.
I will explain more detail about BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS).
Here is the flow to register BIS in Telkomsel.
- Come to Telkomsel GrhaPARI and fulfill the registration form.
- Make sure your handset is supported by BlackBerry & already installed BlackBerry Connect (BBC) client.
- By register BIS in Telkomsel, you will charged Rp.150K /month and you will get 20MB free data.
- Telkomsel Customer Service Officer (CSO) will activate your SIM Card on their CRM application and you will charged for monthly if your SIM already active.
- After that Telkomsel CSO will register your IMSI to Blackberry tools, and you ready to use the data if registered.
- For using your email, you need to register your Device & Email address to http://telkomsel.blackberry.com. This application will request for you to insert Device PIN & Device IMEI. PIN is Personal Identify Number of Blackberry that you can found in Menu > BlackBerry >Device info (using BBC) or Menu > option > status (using BB Handheld)
- if you using BBC (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, or Dopod), please make sure that you installed the match version between BBC and firmware of your device.
- If Firmware & BBC matched, you will not have problem to register your device.
- after register your device, the application will request for you to choose account that used for login to this application
- after that, you can register your existing email account or create new telkomsel BlackBerry email account.
- If all of that above successful, your device will notify & you can use your BlackBerry to send/received email by check the account in menu > message > your email account folder from you device.
Some case that make your BlackBerry doesn't work :
- Especially for Nokia E90 & E61i, from my experiences, some of their firmware version doesn't work fluently, like Firmware version 1.633.xx for E61i, almost all device with this firmware will not work if you install Blackberry. The solution, please upgrade your firmware to 2.633.xx or newest version.
- Your device is already registered to other operators & not released yet. It's happen because BlackBerry device only can registered in one operators in the world. The solution is, please request to previous operator to release your PIN from their list. But, usually CSO from some operators doesn't know about it and just say released already whereas it's not released yet by their admin.
- Network problem of the operators also one of the reason that can make it not running well.
I think is enough for today. Enjoy your BlackBerry and keep in touch will your email, because your are the VVIP (Very Very Important People).
Regards,
Jockie

Thank you for your info Jokie.
Now I'm looking for how to get PIN no in E90 Nokia Phone.
Hi Jackie
I am subscribed on my Bold now, can I also use my own email address instead of the any@telkomsel.blackberry.com email address on my BBB?
